Digital Photography – Do It with Nikon

Photography is a great hobby for anyone to start. It makes you see the world in another dimension and opens up new opportunities. In addition, you can also use it to have extra income. There are myriads of brand names that offer you with top-of-the-line digital cameras, but there are factors that you need to consider whenever you purchase one of these babies. Nikon is one of the companies that produce some of the best Digital Single Lens Reflex (D-SLR) Cameras in the world. However, you must determine the specifications that you need in order to use a Nikon D-SLR’s full potential.

Megapixel rate is one of the most mentioned features about a camera. This factor gives a photo a more refined appearance. The higher the megapixel rate, the clearer and finer the photograph will look like. If you are the type of hobbyist who wants to produce clear, crisp, and sharp pictures, go for units that have higher megapixel rate. By this way, it will eliminate the dissatisfaction that you would feel if ever you take pictures of the surrounding and come up with blurred parts.

The type of battery must also be considered when purchasing a Nikon D-SLR. There are two types of batteries available – The Nickel Metal Hydride (NiHM) type and the well-known Lithium Ion type batteries. We all know about Lithium Ion type because the technology used for it is the same as for mobile phones and portable gadgets nowadays. In addition, lithium ion batteries are known for their convenience; their sizes are smaller but they pack many hours of power. The only problem with lithium ion batteries is the price. Buying these kinds of batteries to be used as backup for your camera would also cost you a lot of money.

The zoom capacity of a camera must also be taken into account. Zoom is the capability of a camera to capture a distant subject and draws it closer to you without sacrificing the quality of the photo (depending on the type of zoom that you used). There are two types of zoom – an Optical Zoom and a Digital Zoom. An optical zoom uses the power of the physical lens to zoom in or out of the subject, while a digital zoom utilizes the processor within the camera to zoom into the subject further when the optical zoom has reached its limit. However, a digital zoom might not give you the best picture quality when you take distant objects; therefore, it is advisable to purchase an optical lens that has a longer range.

When you buy a Nikon D-SLR, it always comes with a manual that could answer some of the frequently asked questions about the unit. Digital photography will give you a sense of fulfillment and allow you to explore the hobby even further. Practice makes perfect and honing your photography skills will be needing some of your determination and enthusiasm.
